For the Record: March 3, 2023.
It's Bandcamp Friday... here's a timely round-up of new and forthcoming objects of desire for your shopping lists.
Lead in.
For the Record is a regular round-up of new and upcoming recordings of interest to the new-music community – contemporary classical music and jazz, electronic and electroacoustic music, and idioms for which no clever genre name has been coined – on CD, vinyl LP, cassette, digital-only formats… you name it.
This list of release dates is culled from press releases, Amazon, Bandcamp, and other internet stores and sources, social-media posts, and online resources such as Discogs. Dates cited typically correspond to initial U.S. release, and are subject to change. (Links to Amazon, used when all else fails, do not imply endorsement.)
After publication, new listings are incorporated into For the Record: The Master List, a continuously updated resource exclusively accessible to paying Night After Night subscribers, found here.
These listings are not comprehensive—nor could they be! To submit a forthcoming recording for consideration, email information to nightafternight@icloud.com.

Spin.
It's Bandcamp Friday again today, and hopefully you've been stashing all of your must-buy new and upcoming releases into your wishlist so that indie artists and labels make a little bit more cash.
Straight from the source, here's a list of this year's remaining officially designated Bandcamp Fridays.
Bandcamp Fridays will continue in 2023 on April 7th, May 5th, August 4th, September 1st, October 6th, November 3rd, and December 1st.
No word yet on whether the annual Juneteenth fundraiser will return for a fourth time this year, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it.
New Amsterdam RecordsChristian Roberge
Truth be told, two of my foremost selections for this week (Missy Mazzoli and John Zorn) aren't available on Bandcamp. But there's still plenty of strong new music to check out this week, and most likely your email inbox is awash in temptations.
At the top of my personal wish list are Behind the Wallpaper, a distinctive and beguiling collaboration among composer Alex Temple, composer-vocalist Julia Holter, and Spektral Quartet, on New Amsterdam, and Postcards from Hereafter, a new album from Brussels ethno-chamber-prog consort Razen, new from Important Records.
From the same label comes a welcome reissue of The Well & The Gentle, a crucial 1985 recording by Pauline Oliveros with Relâche. Another worthy archival release is Off-Hour Wait State, an inventive Tom Hamilton project featuring great collaborators like Thomas Buckner and Roscoe Mitchell, originally issued in 1996 on O.O. Discs and newly self-released in digital formats.
Among recent releases worth going back to pick up, Sage, Suddenly by Andrew Weathers has been especially absorbing just lately, and Slow Poem for Stiebler, performed by Biliana Voutchkova and Sarah Davachi for Another Timbre, is exceptionally beautiful.
Brand-new from Voutchkova, in collaboration with Boris Hauf's Shameless Records, is Zelzele, a compilation meant to raise funds for relief efforts in Syria and Türkiye. I've not heard it yet, but it boasts a strong lineup (Clara Levy, Miya Masaoka, Joan Jeanrenaud, more)… and honestly, you hardly need anyone's recommendation for this cause.
And, looking ahead, there's a new batch of brilliant albums coming April 10 on the always rewarding Elsewhere label. Why not go ahead and order those today?
