For the record: Sept. 3, 2021.
Happy Bandcamp Friday! Here's a small handful of shopping tips, plus listings for new and upcoming releases…
For the Record is a weekly round-up of new and upcoming recordings of interest to the new-music community – contemporary classical music and jazz, electronic and electroacoustic music, and idioms for which no clever genre name has been coined – on CD, vinyl LP, cassette, digital-only formats… you name it.
This list of release dates is culled from press releases, Amazon, Bandcamp, and other internet stores and sources, social-media posts, and online resources such as Discogs. Dates cited typically correspond to initial U.S. release, and are subject to change. (Links to Amazon, used when all else fails, do not imply endorsement.)
After publication, new listings are incorporated into For the Record: The Master List, a continuously updated resource exclusively accessible to paying Night After Night subscribers, found here.
These listings are not comprehensive—nor could they be! To submit a forthcoming recording for consideration, email information to nightafternight@icloud.com.

Happy Bandcamp Friday!
Most of the releases you'll see listed below are available on Bandcamp, which on the first Friday of each month waives its fees in order to put more money directly into the pockets of artists and labels impacted by the many, many hardships this last year-plus has imposed. Many of my favorite recent releases are on Bandcamp, as well, like the fantastic four-CD set of John Cage's Number Pieces recorded by Apartment House for Another Timbre; the Alarm Will Sound set of Tyshawn Sorey's For George Lewis and Autoschediasms on Canteloupe Music; the fabulous rendition of Julius Eastman's Femenine recorded by Wild Up for New Amsterdam; and the wonderful collaboration among composer Gabriella Smith, cellist Gabriel Cabezas, and producer Nadia Sirota, Lost Coast, on Bedroom Community.
Three more tips: First, don't sleep on rag'sma, the mesmerizing new JACK Quartet recording of music composed by founding member and violinist Christopher Otto—it's quite extraordinary. Second, be sure to check out the two new Indexical releases listed below, coming Sept. 24… I have been waiting eagerly for years to have a Ghost Ensemble recording of Teodora Stepančić's Harp N Ropes (No. 4), the premiere performance of which made me a Stepančić fanboi, and the other new release features her fine-tuned trio with partner Assaf Gidron and their comrade Martin Lorenz. And third, there are three new Elsewhere recordings listed below for Sept. 27 release, and they are all very special indeed.
The lists that follow could be a whole lot longer, but it's been a seriously taxing week and I'm pressed for time now. Do keep exploring, dig deep, and listen big.
